What if someone threw a drink or spit in your face?

Question

I'm not sure about how whites would handle the situation, but I know most blacks folks would start swinging in retailation. If I'm wrong let me know. State your race and tell me what you would do about it. I'm trying to get statistics.

For those who are wondering why I'm making this a race issue. Ron Artest(a black man)had a drink thrown at him during a basketball game a few years ago. Which led to him running into the stands in retailiation. Also for those who's ever watched the Flavor of Love one woman spit in the face of a black woman and got thrown into the wall for it.

After these things had happened mostly whites were calling these two thugs and they shouldn't have attacked those people. But mostly every black or minority supported their actions. So I've been wondering if it was a cultural thing.

I have never been spit on or had a drink poured on my,but if it were to happen my reaction would be the same as yours,and I am white!!

I don't think it has anything to do with race.

It's a self respect issue. There's also the issue of the person's nature. If the person is a "turn the other cheek" type of person, once again race becomes obsolete.

There's also circumstances that apply. Is the person Mike Tyson, or is it an average Joe? The reason I ask is because sometimes egos overcome logic. If you have a big ego, but yet you're gonna "start swinging" as you put it, at someone whom you know will inevitably smash your face in, then that makes you an idiot in my book, because you end up loking like more of a fool for acting tough. Self respect shouldn't overwhelm common sense.

I would have a hell of a time not reacting to the spit, however the drink is not as bad in my opinion. Oh btw, I'm white... which means nothing.

***I had to edit this to laugh at all the internet tough guys. Especially the one telling you what bones, he'd break and the ones needing to tell you they are "so tough". Kinda irrelevant dontcha think? LOL

P.S. If you fought 9 guys and won, you should try adults, not preschoolers.

I would never tolerate either one. For whatever reason, I would be much more livid if a man did that to me and I would aim for the balls or eyes. If it were a woman, I'd be more perplexed than anything else (I'm not a ****-starter so there'd really be no reason for a woman to do that to me) but I'd be in her face minimum. I wouldn't spit back though. That is one of the most degrading things you can do to another human being. I agree, it's an issue of respect, not race. Most men would retaliate.

I'm white. The last person that spit on me got a broken nose and 3 cracked ribs.
I've never had a drink or thrown on me... But I'm pretty sure the out come would be the same

Well I'm white and i think that it someone threw a drink or spit on me, i would flip out. now I'm not the kind of person to go after people and swing at them, but my older cousins and best friends that are guys, both whit and colored, would swing in a heartbeat. So in that case, you are pretty much right with what you said. I dont know of many people who would just satnd there and take that kind of crap without putting up a fight.

Well I am not sure race has anything to do with the reaction.
I happen to be white...if I deserved to have a drink thrown in my face...then I suppose I would let it go. But if I did not think I deserved it.....I would certainly start stomping the sh*t out of someone. I am not a big proponent for fighting BUT I think I would have get some UFC action going on!!!

I am latino......and used to fight for a living for a while as a street fighter got disqualified in USA and can not fight legaly due to being too agressive and vicious as they described it!!

If you throw a drink at me.......I would break your nose, right forearm and left femur, while dislocating your left shoulder, right wrist, and right ankle......then would tell you that if I ever see you again, to consider yourself dead!!

If you spit at me....you and your whole group of friends are dead!!!! Please, offer me a good amount of money so the killing stops there or I will hunt your, and your friends families as well!!!!

So far I have not killed anyone but have fought up to nine guys for shoving me off and since it was not as bad as spitting I only hurt them all real bad.......but they all lived to tell about it and some became my friends after that incident but some guys got soo scared that they didn't tell anyone and moved away!!!

Have a clean record and work helping people out, how odd is that!!!!!!!!

I'm white. I would be pissed off, let them know it and then walk away. But, then again, I'm 53, and have arthritis, so I guess I don't have the option of kicking anyone. Maybe I would spit back? Naw, I wouldn't bother. I'd just leave.

White girl here. I wouldn't get my hands dirty or waste my time swinging at anyone. Retaliation doesn't have to be physical or instantaneous. Out of left field at a later date is what I would choose and it would not be any physical harm. I'm far more creative than that. And the other person goes crazy trying to figure out when their gonna get theirs.

I'm white. No one's been brave enough to spit, but a dude did throw a drink in my face once, and I got tossed out of the bar (once they pried my hands off his throat). If a girl did it, I'd be pretty upset, but I don't hit girls.
