I guess she doesn't like my avatar. I can respect that but does she really need to call me a traitor to America? I think someone who tries to take our rights away is a traitor. I don't have the confederate flag because I am racist. I'm not racist at all. I have African American friends. I have it because I am from the south and proud of it. Many people make fun of me because I am from the South. I have this flag to show them that their ramblin don't bother me. What is your opinion?

Just keep fllyin' the flag. The confederate flag is a part of American history. Personally, I don't know why this is such a touchy subject. All the media hype, I guess. If ones studies the total history of the Civil War, one will find that it wasn't as much about slavery as other issues between the "north" and the "south". I agree with you. You have every right to be proud of your Southern American History.

I am a southernor as well. While someone wanting to stifle your free speech is certainly "un-American", you do need to own up that putting the Confederate flag out there opens you up to this sort of criticism just as someone with a Nazi symbol would. You certainly have the right to display these sorts of things but you should seriously question if you should.

While many southernors say the presenting the Confederate flag is just a form of southern pride, there is UNDENIABLY a history and meaning that comes with it. This history and meaning stems from a part of the United States wanting to "own" other human beings for economic interests and gain. To any standard of decency this is wrong. Your display of the Confederate flag carries with it this immoral and shameful past of Southern history.

I am proud to be a Southernor. I appreciate the kindness, the sense of nobility, still very necessary notions of honor, gentlemanly behavior, respect for women. There are many wonderful things about the South that we should be proud of.

Slavery is not one of these things.

So, you certainly have the right to display this and I support you completely in that it is your right as an American to do so. But know that the flag you present represents a lost nation that would have denied all basic human rights to millions of people because of the color of their skin. If you hang out the Confederate flag, this you must own as well.

I saw that comment earlier and I think it is wrong. I am also from the South and I am proud of the Confederate Flag. It does not stand for racism. It is a symbol of the Confederate States which I admit lost the civil war but I think that is why the flag is so important to Southerners now.

Some folks seem to find the confederate flag offensive and more often than not its associated with racism. I don't think you are a traitor but everyone is entitled to their own opinions even if you don't agree. Don't worry about the other person....as long as you aren't violating Y!A terms of service and you aren't trying to instigate something with other users then you haven't a single thing to worry about.

I think people are entitled to their own opinions, but that they should use caution when expressing them to other members (unless a child or animal is getting hurt). In regards to the Confederate Flag, there has been a lot of negative press and some feel strongly about those who fly it today. If you're going to use one for your avatar, then you have to be prepared for some backlash. I personally, have no problem with it as I've seen much worse.

Opinions are like assholes. Some are stinkier than others. Who cares obviously this person doesn't know you as a person so let her go terrorize someone else. Plus, sometimes people represent this flag in a racist way so maybe she is taking it that way. Like I said who knows, who cares what she thinks!

Most people do not understand the true meaning of the confederate flag and interpret it as racist. Obviously this girl is ignorant to southern culture and needs to quit her yapping.
