I'm afraid I can't help you with your audition on Saturday, but I'm going to give you a piece of useful advice; two pieces, in fact.

1) Don't show up at an audition with something you wrote yourself. Trust me; it's NOT what they want.

2) If you're going to be an auditioning actor, you need to have at LEAST four monologues committed to memory and ready to perform at a moment's notice. It makes absolutely NO sense to try to pull of a decent audition performance with a piece you just learned a few days ago. I don't care who you are and how naturally gifted you may be...it can't be done. Under the best of circumstances, all you'll be able to do is fight to remember which line comes next...hardly the same thing as a performance.

So, get through Saturday, and take this as a "wake-up call" to start putting together a list of monologues for yourself. Find material you like, prepare it, and keep them fresh. The next time an audition comes around, you'll be ready.

Are you comfortable reciting some Shakespeare? Why not try Lady Macbeth's 'Unsex me here" soliloquay from Act I, Sc.V? It's deeply dramatic, and passionate. You can rent some copies of Macbeth and see how others have portrayed it.

Or, actually, I have a better idea... Why don't you check out this database of monologues: http://notmyshoes.net/monologues/index2.html and pull something out that captures your interest. The site offers a good selection of monologues, both classic and contemporary, and you might find something that you feel more comfortable with.

In any case, I have attached the Lady Macbeth soliloquay below because, well, because it's been running around in my head as of late. lol

Good luck!

----

The raven himself is hoarse
That croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan
Under my battlements. Come, you spirits 45
That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full
Of direst cruelty! make thick my blood;
Stop up the access and passage to remorse,
That no compunctious visitings of nature 50
Shake my fell purpose, nor keep peace between
The effect and it! Come to my woman's breasts,
And take my milk for gall, you murdering ministers,
Wherever in your sightless substances
You wait on nature's mischief! Come, thick night, 55
And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell,
That my keen knife see not the wound it makes,
Nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark,
To cry 'Hold, hold!'

Ok, you can EDIT the ones that you found that were too long. Everyone does it because no one really writes one or two minute monologues. Your other option would be to write one yourself.
