In Uk or anywhere else, a person must protect the
home....I may not 'sleep' with my Smith&Wesson, but
it's close enough to where I can get it should I have to.
There's no profit in owning something if you don't know how to use it.....and no profit in knowing how if you don't have
the nerve to do .....
My advice is; if anyone decides to intrude into someone
else's home....expect more than a 'hit over the head',
there may be someone at home...with more than a club!

You could be convicted for hitting them over the head, even if they had come into your home to steal including causing them grievous bodily harm, if that was the result. But if you can prove that it was "self defence", which basically means you have to prove they were the aggressor and if you had not hit them over the head they would have harmed and perhaps killed you, then you would be OK. But you would need to be very careful in what you say to the Police and ideally there needs there needs to be a witness to back your statement that it was self defence and the intruder was the aggressor. not you!

That is a definite no no,remember farmer Martin, his jury sentenced him to life imprisonment,I wonder if they slept well after that I know i would not have done.Think about it,burglar in your house you whack him, hurt him, now you call the police, they arrive ,two hours later if your lucky, burglar on the floor you've tied him up so he cant get away,he is crying his eyes out now he sobs to the police he has hurt me sir,I was only robbing his house, look what he has done to me.Next thing you know burglar's on bail your in jail and it's going to cost you a fortune cos he is suing you for compensation, for kidnap, and attempted murder. Mate the law abiding citizen ain't got a chance.

A difficult area...........
The law states "Reasonable force" however that is hard to define.
If you come across them & hit them to a pulp and they are unarmed YOU could get done.
If they have a knife & you pick up a "weapon" and defend your self OK. BUT if they drop that weapon & you carry on you could get done.
If you are lucky enough for them to say "I'm going to kill you" You can beat them to a pulp (problem is they will deny saying it).
Best to make sure you are not in that situation in the first place - contact Crime prevention, they will come out to your house and advise you how to protect your house & family.

Against the law isn't it. Unless its changed since the Tony Martin case he was defending his home and OK the kid died but he shouldn't have been robbing in the first place then Tony wouldn't have pulled a gun on him. If you want to risk it, in defence of your home go for it. Most of the laws in this country are wrong the Innocent folk always come of worse.

If you wake up in your bedroom and there is a burgular there... you are permitted to batter the crap out of him/her.
The law takes a dimmer view of someone being in your bedroom when you are asleep rather than in some other part of the house.

Doesn't matter where you live, if you wake up to find an intruder on your private property everyone has the right to kill
if their life is in danger.

They'd get a damned sight more than a 'whack' over the head if they had the idea they could break into my house!

My house is my house. As soon as you step over fresh hold, villains beware. I`ve dogs that are trained to injury you, GSD. But looking at them you would`nt think so.

Your not legally allowed to stupidly. All you can legally do is use minimal force needed to keep yourself safe.
But between me and my dogs no burglar would leave my house without getting badly hurt or killed.
