Well. I am 13 and got my period last march. I was in Florida and I was really sad because I couldn't swim :[. I decided that I wouldn't let this ruin my vacation, so I really wanted to use tampons. It took me a whole box! I just could not do it. FINALLY I got. Let me tell you, I was so annoyed at first. When I finally got it I was SO happy. They are the best invention ever (in my opinion).
When I first tried, I used Platex slimfits. Sadly, they don't make them anymore. I only use platex because tampax hurts for me when I take it out. Now I use Platex Sport. They are small like the slimfits and easy to move in. If you really want a slim tampon (which you should start with) then try the Tampax one.
Try to relax when you try. Sit on the toilet or put one leg on the toilet. Relax everything and read the instructions on the box. Well I hope this helps and good luck with womanhood! -Maddie

Well, I just did answer a similar question. You need the correct size, for you it my be juniors. You might try Vaseline, a small amount to coat the tampon so it goes in easier. You need to realize that the vagina is a cavity, the tampon cannot get lost and it cannot go in to far. When you buy a box of tampons, their are instructions in the box. Read them, spread your legs while sitting on the toliet, relax and push it in as straight as you can. This can take some practice, but I think it is worth while. When you have a tampon in correctly, you are unable to feel it at all. You just need to remember to change it often. It is your body, don't be afraid to touch yourself and be cururios about your body. I hope this helps you.♥♥♥♥

well since you're twelve and you're new at the period thing i would suggest getting the slim tampons for teens (they're called slimfits or it will actually say "great for teens" on the box)

Also you can use some personal lubricant and vaseline If you just can't find it you can use a little mirror to practice with.

Also if you don't get it right at first don't pull it out immediately because it will still be dry and it hurts!

It's not good to use tampons at that young of an age.. Especially if you just started your period. You can ask a school nurse for more info. . . but your body isn't ready for that yet, and it's not a good idea to use them at this time. I know pads are annoying, but stick with them for a bit and then move up.

Try using Tampax Pearl tampons. They are the easiest for me to use. I remember when I first started using tampons, I used one with a cardboard applicator, and that just did not work! It's always kind of tough to get the hang of it when you first start using them, but you will get to where it's comfortable for you.

i started on July 23, 2006.

i think you should wait.

Just read the instructions on the box. It tells you what to do step by step. If you don't insert it correctly it will be very uncomfortable.

Tampons are better but they also have serious side effects. If you still want to, use the playtex gentle glide.

yes, pads are pain (you think that's bad, you should have seen what we had to use in the old days.)

but i think you should start with pads for a while, until you get the hang of it.
