Clean or change the filter in you A/C regularly.
Avoid open fire like a fireplace.
Dust weekly with a moist cloth or a something like swiffer dusters - that way you remove the dust instead of redistributing it.
Keep the amount of clutter and electronics down - especially electronics are real dust magnets.
Make sure that your vacuum does not produce dust - if you can smell that you just vacuumed your vacuum most probably produces dust. Use a vacuum with a hepa filter and exchange this filter regularly.

I just bought a humidifier 6 weeks ago and it is amazing dust is still down! My nagging sinuses have cleared up! The dust particles in the air are gone and I sware my skin I feel like I found the fountain of youth! We have been running the heat all winter and I have been sick since we turned it on it dried the air and the dust was awful! Anyway it is a Honeywell 100 dollars at Home Depot it cleans the air and puts moisture in! Yeah!

One thing I do is put new dryer sheets in the vents of my registers. This helps keep the dust down and also puts through a nice clean scent when the furnace is on.
However, this is only a temporary fix... to get rid of dust, you should probably have your furnace cleaned by a professional. I know that a lot of my dust comes from my furnace. In the summertime, there is much less of it to deal with.

well I use a duster wipe called SPONTEX these little dusters have something inside them that prevents the dust from settling back again, I found myself going through the house looking for the dust to clean , when normally I´d be going around with a duster in my hand almost everyday. So try them for yourself . They really work

Keep a clean filter in the furnace. Get one for allergy reduction. They filter out smaller particles. And weather seal the house. Make sure the doors and windows seal tight, so the outside dirt stays outside.
