I've been to 3 in different parts of Mexico and I'd have to say the activities directors are most annoying. The food is what you get (buffet style) but usually they have nicer restaurants you can make reservations at (if so book early via the concierge). Definately get out and see the sites don't spend all day at the hotel. If you are worried about missing a meal most places will pack a lunch for you if you request the night before.

The only downfall that I ever experienced is that you don't really get a true feel for the destination. The resort seems to be like its own little community. If you are going to an AI resort, be sure to leave and explore a bit. You'll be glad you did.

You may fell obligated to eat and drink solely at that resort. If you eat or drink elsewhere, you sort of pay for the food and drink twice.
