Why the hell are people so uptight when they hear race or nationality or religion jokes? I'm Jewish, i hear Jewish jokes and i laugh, i'm Italian, i hear Italian jokes and guess what?.... i laugh. When an uptight douch hears an Jewish, Italian, Irish joke, they tell me to go to hell... People really have to learn how to get a sense of humor.
....keep the peace....

People have different sensitivities and some may have been bullied about their race/religion etc in the past. It can really sting.

Some people don't solely say jokes like that in a comedic way, but rather in a way that the intention is quite pejorative because it exposes their latent views on race or religion.

You may find it funny, and maybe sometimes it is but that does not eradicate the fact that the person who tells the joke may have true negative feelings about that particular race and religion.

There is a special category of human in the States - they are professional victims, and look for offense in everything that is said and done. Some of them get offended for others - and are furious when the people they are "protecting" tell them to f off (remember the NCAA trying to force Florida State to drop the Seminole logo? - the Seminoles wanted it kept, but it took the threat of a lawsuit to stop the NCAA from insisting that the team name was offensive.)

There is no guarantee in life that you will not be offended by something. If the joke is genuinely funny - and even if it isn't - these "victims" need to get a life.

Everyone has their own vices.
I've heard many contaversial things in my life.
I did realize people can say what they want, and I can choose a battle, join them, or ignore it. (constitutional rights)
These days....almost anything can be construed a crime. (people are caving in and raising wimps)
We used to be stronger....now we sue and complain to the point of no return. (we will soon fall, on this path)

Most people are stuffy, or they like to be offended (and get to act as a victim). Others don't get that they're jokes.

Because such "jokes" are by definition bigoted, and represent hate speech. There is no justification for communication that intentionally harms someone.

Nor do most people find such hatred "funny."

No. You need to learn that some people get very offended by jokes that are discriminatory and/or racial, religious, etc. You may find them funny along with others, but there are people that don't. Get used to it.
