You really need to have been actively trying to conceive for 12 months before there is a need to see a fertility specialist. Check out pregnancy and conception websites such as http://www.fertilityfriend.com to learn more about how your body works so you can time intercourse as accurately as possible. It helps to chart your basal temperature so you have something to take to your OB.
After a year, if you still have not conceived, you will need to to see your OB. If necessary, he/she can refer to you a specialist.

The ob/gyn for a start. If you have been trying to conceive for about 6mos to a year and have been seeing a OB/GYN then you can ask for a referral to a fertility clinic.
