The women in my family have a saying "date for fun but marry for money if you want a happy life."But my some of my older cousins and a few aunts that actually did this or put it into practise dont seem to happy at all?Granted its not all of them but out of the 5-6 female relatives that i saw do this only 1 maybe 2 is remotley happy with their decision. Why is this when they have everything they could possibly want?

I like the old adage, "If you marry for money, you earn every cent!" I would never marry for money, but if she had money and I loved her, that would definitely be a plus. Marry for love, ONLY!

When I met my husband he didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to through it out of. I had opportunities to date men with money, but I chose to stay with my boyfriend at the time because no matter where we were or what we were doing we were happy. Fast forward 20 years later, he is a successful business man, I am an at home mom, we have three children and while we are by no means "wealthy" material wise, (only because I refuse to live outside of our means) we are rich in love, and strong family values.

It's about love not money. Money doesn't buy happiness which you've already seen, go with your heart.

Easy....money does not buy happiness. It buys materialistic things and after a while it gets a little repetative and may be even boring. The people I personally know who did this did not even last in their marriages. Most of them ended up in divorce, or are still married but cheat on their spouses. My husband is not that well off, but I'm happy being with him. Can your relatives say the same?

You know hun, you can have everything you want in the world, designer handbags, designer clothes, luxuriouse houses, exensive jewelry, but if your not happy than whats the point?

If you can have everything that man can offer but not experience true love, than you will NOT be happy.

Do whatever makes YOU happy, not what your family wants. Your the one thats going to live your life with that person and not them.

And marriage is not something you can just erase, its something that should be for a lifetime, something that alot of people take for granted.

But you do whatever makes YOU happy and complete.
But If you choose money over love than you will not be happy.

Answer is simple love cannot be bought, nor can one force it. I married for love and yes like 1/2 of America we struggle to make ends meet with 3kids, but we struggle together and things always come around for us. If you don't love someone what else is there? I can see how it would be nice to have shopping spree's, fine dining, lux. cars, and everything you want it would be really nice, but at the end of the day money can't kiss you goodnight, hold you while your sleeping, or tell you how much they missed you while they were at work and mean it! Love is honest and true, money is man made!

Its totally up to your morals.. I can't say I would or wouldn't
If its a marriage for immigration purpose and your gonna make some $$ and just "pretend" to the gov't. Why not. But make it worth it.
My grandparents were a prearranged marriage and last until death ( their marriage) Back in the day they did that and many other countries still do.
Or You could marry some lonely old person with tons of money for company and..... Maybe fall in love?

It depends on what someone needs emotionally from their marriage. Some women don't need the bells and whistles, or their heart to flutter everytime their man enters a room. Some women are really focused on raising kids and what they want more is a solid finacial platform to raise them and get them educated... as long is the man is nice and realitivley decent... they are content with a nice house, clothes, trips... besides they can always get the pool-boy to take care of more than the pool!

Having lots of money does not equal happiness! Of course having a budget and living within it definitely helps in the marriage relationship!

Can they really have anythng they want. when was the last time you brought friendship. Or the last time you paid your mom and dad to love you? Money doesn't buy everthing. If it did there would have been no need for Jesus Christ to die and pay for our sins. Can you take it with you when you die if nto it probally isn't all that important. You will have family and friends in family but never money.

Well, right now, I'd take that over my situation. I love my husband, but he's spending all the money on himself instead of our family. I guess if there was more of it ($$$), I wouldn't have that to complain about.
