You won't like my answer but it is the only thing that worked for us. You are going to have to let him cry it out. My daughter did the same thing and we finally said, "enough". It was a couple nights of pure hell, but worth it in the long run. At that age there is no reason for them to need milk in the night. We tried the watering down the bottle and all that and none of it worked. Good luck!

I'm in awe that your one and a half year old is still waking up 4-5 times a night my 3 month old is sleeping through the night most of the time other nights he wakes up once and that's around 4am. I suggest giving him some solid food before bed. Maybe some cereal in his bottle if you insist on giving him one. But I think the bottle habit needs to be kicked.

Hes still waking up 4-5 times for a bottle? Why are you giving him that much food? Thats not healthy at all. If he wakes up in the middle of the night let him cry it out, it could take a few minutes but he will fall back to sleep. Also before bed give him as much food (obvisouly not like a bowl of chips but you get the drift, milk or oatmeal) as he can hold. Dont stuff him to the brim but make it so he wont be up in an hour for food. This is a habit that must be broken, my son is 6 months and doesnt wake up at all most nights.

TAKE THE BOTTLE AWAY!!!
A one and a half year old should be totally off a bottle and definitely should not be waking up for one! Ween the child from the bottle and all of your night waking problems will be solved!
Also, I think it's perfectly fine to try out the CIO method! The first few nights will be hard but eventually the message will be loud and clear!

Your one and a half year old shouldn't be waking up at all through the night for a bottle. They shouldn't even be on a bottle.

Your toddler should not be getting up this often for food. It sounds like this is a habit that has been created and the best thing you can do is let them cry it out. Through the bottle in the trash! Make sure that teething or pain is not the cause for such frequent wakings, then take the steps to breaking this habit. God Bless and try to get some sleep!

I agree with Jodie. My 10 month old son slept with me for months (my fault) and the only way to break him of waking up during the night in his own bed was to ignore him. He cried for a while the first two nights, then went right to sleep. Don't think you are being cruel; you are enabling your baby to self-comfort.

you might want to try feeding oatmeal or another hearty grain before you lay down for sleep so that they have substance to last them through the night or at least 5 hours. also look at the spacing between regualr daylight feedings. if they are close (ours are 3 hours apart) thats the babies routine and they will wake up for their feedings.

time to bottle break the baby and teach him how to brush his teeth so they dont rot out of his head.have him drink from a sippee cup and make sure he gets milk in the daytime but at night try water instead you dont want your kid to be fat.
