I have a 7 year old daughter and she really seems to have a talent/passion for performing. No...not being a biased stage Mom...I've been told by people that meet her and what I watch her do at home. I would like to find out about agencies or information for getting her started. I know there are "modeling agencies" out there but you end paying more money and it's a scam!

Any ideas? Suggestions? Warnings?

Thanks!

I live in Orange County, CA. So LA is commutable.

I'm not looking to push her into a full time career - I want her to be a kid! I actually had classes or training in mind.

Contact the Children's department of the top agencies in L.A.
Ford Models, Click Models. Warning: Legitimate Modeling and Talent Agencies NEVER charge to represent a model.

Talent Agencies are entitled to a 10% commission for representing performers.

You didn't say in which USA city you live.
The modeling and acting industry is located primarily in New York City and Los Angeles. For your daughter to have a successful career in either field, you must live in NYC or L.A.

Legitimate Modeling Agencies NEVER charge a fee to represent a model. Legitimate Talent Agencies are entitled to a 10% commission on the acting job the actor books.

Move to NYC if you are serious about helping your daughter get into this field. It's very, very difficult to become successul in modeling or acting.

Here is contact info on the top NYC modeling agencies. Look online for their websites, some agencies will accept photos online. I do NOT know which agencies accept childlren.

Don't do it. She's young, innocent. No need to corrupt her with the impurities of show business. It's a tough business to get into, and if your not marketable your gunna shut out.

She's young, she's only 7. She still has a long, long life ahead of her. Why rush? What may be a passion today, may be nothing tomorrow.

If your daughter still really wants this in 5 years, then I would maybe consider it.

She's too young, for now.

How about starting with local & regional theatre groups? Community theatre offers lots of experience & will let both of you see what commitments are required in terms of time & energy. Let her build up her confidence (I know, my 9 year old thinks she has plenty of confidence for this, too) & even learn that rejection isn't about her not being good, just not being the right fit for the part being cast. Also, she needs to see that while she is, rightfully ;o), the star of your family, she may not be the star of the show but the small parts are just as important for the flow of the show as the starring roles.

I know of no agencies but her modeling at this age of practice can get her ready for a famous movie star someday.
