If you are interested in computer science, but not so much in programming, start looking into the fields available via computer engineering as another option. You can do a lot in the computer field, without actually being a programmer. You'll need to learn some programming, of course, but it doesn't have to be the main focus of your program.
As for historically Black colleges that have majors like this, and are respected in the field, check out:
- Howard U. They have a strong engineering/computer program.
- Spelman. Also a fine program.
Also check out the programs at:
-Xavier U of Louisiana
-North Carolina A&T
-Morgan State U
-Morehouse, if you're male (but your avatar shows a female, so...I suggested Spelman.)
All well respected.
You may find a lot of good info on this subject at BlackEngineer.com.
You may be interested in the program at U Missouri-Rolla. They have a program to actively recruit Black engineers, including scholarships. It has a high graduation rate.
If you are African American, the Black Scholarship Guide may also be of assistance, llinked, below:

i'm presently doing a working laptop or computing device technology degree, and that i've got 2 modules in arithmetic alongside the computing ones. the mathematics you will possibly be able to desire to do isn't too troublesome to be truthful! there is obviously the basics mutually with binary, hexadecimal, and a small little bit of octal(!), those are for obtrusive motives using fact it rather is how a working laptop or computing device operates. there is likewise a substantial section in differentiation and integration (i won't have the ability to recollect what for), there's a substantial section, additionally, in archives (for networking, the probabilities of a community occurring etc.). in the previous I went to college, I had a B in arithmetic at GCSE, I finished a BTEC national degree in ICT (which taught me little maths), then went to uni and that's the place i'm now (doing my tests interior the 1st year), i've got presently discovered the mathematics required now, i'm only being examined on it. My suggestion: choose for it; the worst that would desire to ensue is after 365 days (or maybe interior the 1st few weeks of the direction in case you experience you're that undesirable at it), in case you experience you're failing, you could substitute direction (to possibly a working laptop or computing device technology correct degree, that's no longer so heavy on the computing and maths section (possibly business enterprise Computing).
