People don't want a WalMart near them or shop there, I drive 28 miles to shop at a humgous WalMart (clean ) and save tons of money compared to a Kroger (dump) three blocks away with humgously high prices...some people just seem to have some kind of ego and pay a high price for it...

one word - liberals....
Liberals do not want you or me to have any extra money they cannot control. The reason they hate Walmart is the lack of unions. Walmart pays higher than min wadges and they hate them for it. Remember that unions pay their money to liberal politicians.

Shopping at WalMart wouldn't be so bad if the prices were
not higher than other grocery or department stores! My son worked there a few years ago but, they don't believe in
full time just part time jobs. Keep in mind a part time job there
is 39 and a half hours, that way they don't have to worry about
medical insurance or any other benefits. The other stores might not be as big or as well staffed but with the price of everything going up WalMart is not the place to spend $$$$
in my opinion.

Well, there's a number of reasons not to shop at WalMart--quite aside from the fact that you can save as much--or more--elswhere with a little extra effort. One is that you get what you pay for--and WalMart quality is crappy. But for many people--including myself--it's an ethical issue. I do not patronize ANY business that treats its employees the way WalMart does--not if I have a choice. And its ery rare that I don't.

Have you ever really looked at the selection at a WalMart as opposed to a store that specializes in groceries? The prices may be lower, but they don't have the depth, they don't have the specialty items, they don't have the range of a real grocer. It is the same as toys, they have good prices, but less than 1/10th the variety of a toysRus. There is no customer service at the level of a real store. Will WalMart bag groceries, or will they toss items into a bag? It isn't the same thing. Will a specialist measure your inseam and have your slacks altered, or will they throw them in a bag when you buy them? Will WalMart take your phone order, do the shop, and deliver your order, or will they throw your stuff in a bag when you go to shop? I go toWalmart to buy items, but not to seriously shop.

I've seen what that monster can do to a neighborhood and the various stores that were forced to close because of it. You know the stores, where you knew the owners, maybe could walk to them, or have your groceries delivered, or run up a tab to be paid when your check came in. I resent how much space the stores and their parking take up. Their footprint on the environment is enormous. As a retired Union Member, I chose not to shop where the people are considered as "the working poor" because they have no Union to join to represent them. The people have to go on the state's assistance programs just to make up the difference in their paychecks for their medical needs. As far as Unions supporting political candidates, check out WHO and how much money Walmart has given to politicians each election cycle.

There's nothing wrong with it. I prefer Walmart too. They have better quality and selection and value, and cleaner stores. Their mop water even smells better. The prices are way better, the savings are worth the drive, and I am always please with the kind, courteous service. My only complaint: the long lines! The only reason I ever go to king soopers is to save time. The service and prices are reprehensible, but they have self-checkout, and since I move faster than their checkers, I do save time!

I don't worry about where other people shop and I hope they don't worry about where I shop. If people want to spend more, that's their right. I like to have money to spend so I always shop at Wal-Mart. I don't care what anyone has to say about it. I go home at night to my family and know they are taken care of. None of those people come home with me. Thank you and may GOD bless.

There is nothing wrong with it at all. But it is probably costing 20 cents a mile to drive your car, so that's five bucks (or ten -- round trip) to count against your savings. But if you are getting a week's worth of groceries, it could well be worth it.
