One would need some real good software to indulge in animation and graphics. Flash has got some pretty good animation software but I do not think they are free downloads

A good software to download would GIMP. It's user-friendly, and much like Photoshop, something that is very useful after a certain amount of proficiency is attained. Also, it's downloadable over the Web, and free. As for learning how to use it, go to www.howtodrawmanga.com. Julie Dillon's tutorials are found there, a very good place to start. You don't need to go for the paid lessons or the workbooks, just click on the tutorials in the homepage.

There are many websites out there that can guide you. Graphic designing is one of my most favorite things to do in my spare time. It takes time and practice but it's definitely worth it all once you learn all the basics. The first step is to get a graphics program.

Though there are lot of softwares for that like Flash. But to start you can go with GIF Animator. Its easy and user friendly.
