I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not this is a job you could travel with (i.e. Travel nursing). Also, if anyone is a speech pathologist...could you perhaps tell me the pros and cons of your job?

Thank you.

There are companies that will pay you as a contractor to provide your services on short and long term basis. You can get hired in public schools, hospitals and nursing homes. Also there is a national membership organization which can give you good inside info. Check with the licensing board or ask your local college/university if they offer a degree in that area so that you can get good guidance.

The pros (for my niece) is that she had a chance to work in a variety of places. The bad part was working with seniors in a nursing home setting, trying to teach them how to swallow (some have forgotten) and sensing their loneliness of not having family support.

If you don't already have a degree in Speech Language Pathology, then you really can't even get a job as an SLP.

You could potentially have a traveling practice if you build up enough clientele, but often that takes years. The best way is to network with schools and hospitals and other programs. If you're in the US, look up:
