Travel expenses are the ordinary and necessary expenses of traveling away from home for your business, profession, or job. Generally, employees deduct these expenses using Form 2106 or Form 2106-EZ and on Form 1040, Schedule A.

Yes. Any expenses related to work which you would not otherwise have spent money on are tax-deductible. However, you can't expect to be able to deduct a five-star hotel bill plus room service if the conference was held in a three star hotel with a buffet offered for guests. You have to take into account what you had available and what you opted for. I used my travel expenses for my auditions and roles (I was an actress on weekends and nights last year) on my taxes. Hope this helps.

Unreimbursed employee business expenses are deductible. File Form 2106 with your return. The deduction is subject to a 2% AGI limitation.

Yes they are. I am an accountant. If these expenses equal more than your standard deduction you will want to itemize. If not, use the standard.
