We've been seperated for 2 years. I do not know where he is living. I don't even think he's in the same state. All lawyers I've talked to say I need to locate him. I have tried. I have come up empty handed though.

I live in Texas. I believe he is in New Mexico, but I have no way of determining that. Both of his parents are deceased, and he is an only child. I do not know of any possible family members he would have contact with. There are no children or property involved. A lawyer will cost me over $2000 by the estimates I've been getting. Truthfully, I don't think he's worth that much.

I've heard that you can publish a public notice in the newspaper of his last known address. The notice has to run for 30 days.

I just can't believe that the attorneys don't tell you this.

You can still file for a divorce on abandonment you should be able to go see a lawyer and file on these terms and all that is required is an ad to run in the paper for usually 30 days and a lawyer can also do this..Call the Lawyers Bar Association in your state and they may answer your question and refer you to someone that knows what they are talking about

Don't go to a lawyer. They are not telling you the truth. You can get divorced with out knowing his location / whereabouts.
You just have to put an ad in the paper for like a few weeks.
I am going thru a divorce with a lawyer and in your case I would not waste the money of a lawyer..

you need to go to the last place you knew where he was or where his family like mom or dad live to the local newspaper and publish in it your intent to divorce he has a month to respond if he doesnt your lawyer or the judge in the case should have no trouble finalizing your divorce.it will be more complicated if there are children or property such as house or land involved.if thats not an issue it should be simple.good luck.

I can't believe lawyers told you that. Call a woman's hot line and get some good advice.

if you have not seen him in two years, It sounds like abandment, and you lawyer should have told you, to place an ad in the local paper, just like child custody ads.
