Wikipedia Hoax: Comedian Sinbad Is Dead
The emails started coming in early this morning, headers blaring "Sinbad, the comedian, died today, heart attack." Attached was an excerpt from the freshly-revised Wikipedia entry on the 50-year-old entertainer, born David Adkins on November 10, 1956, which contained the sentence, "He succumbed to a fatal heart attack on the morning of March, 14, 2007."

It is a hoax. The revision history of the Wikipedia article shows that it was repeatedly vandalized, corrected, and vandalized again beginning on March 14 and continuing until it was closed to further editing by unregistered users 24 hours later.

I have spoken with a representative at Sinbad's production company, David & Goliath Productions, who said that Sinbad is alive and well, and any rumor to the contrary is a hoax.

Comic dies in Wikipedia hoax
March 16, 2007 - 2:02PM
Condolences flowed for US comedian Sinbad after the online encyclopedia Wikipedia announced his death today, but it turned out the comic was alive and well.
The hoax entry said the 50-year-old entertainer, who appeared in several television series and starred in films including Houseguest, and Jingle All the Way, had died of a heart attack on the morning of March 14.
The news was quickly picked up by an internet user who forwarded the email link and prompted widespread mourning.
But Wikipedia spokeswoman Sandra Ordonez said the Sinbad entry had been vandalised and although the error was quickly caught and changed, some internet users had sent emails with a link to the old version.

No, Sinbad did not die. It was reported on the Wikipedia website, but it has been taken off. Wikipedia's site allows anyone to edit the information on their pages. Some of their pages are protected from editing and some are not. Obviously before yesterday, Sinbad's page was not protected, but as of today, they have protected it. If you go to their site now, you will see a new message posted. BTW, wishing someone was dead is NOT funny. You may not think Sinbad is a funny comedian, but if you compare your bank account to his, I'm sure he would think your account is laughable!!! Love, Peace and Happiness to all!!! Sinbad, keep doing what you do!!! Luv ya!!!

I think it's not true and I agree that those of you who made comments about "hoping it's true" have issues. Your opinion about if Sinbad is funny or not is fine but the other comments are in poor taste. You know nothing about him as a person, nothing. He served in our Air Force and gave of himself so you can all make your ignorant comments. Have a little respect!

Regarding the whole Sinbad topic...some of the comments truly amaze me! Comments made on here by members "Scott" and "Luc" are absolutely REDICULOUS! Wouldn't it be "cool" if YOU GUYS ******* DIED instead of Sinbad? You ******* RETARDS!! For all of you whom may be wondering what I'm talking about, scroll to the top of the page and read the comments posted by "Scott" and "Luc"...what ASSHOLES!

This is a mysterious! It seems as though the celebrities are fallen quickly. I believe it to is a rumor. And for those hateful *** people who left them nasty comments on wishing his death need be ashamed of themselves. Rather you like the man or not you should not hate. If you disliked him then keep your opinions to yourself. He's human just like all of us he loves just like anyone else. To sum it all up! He's still GOD's child rather you like him or not. God Bless Sinbad and his family through this acclaimed rumor or his DEATH!
