Ok, here's the thing. I'm trying to book an appointment with an in-clinic psychologist and trying to find a new job at the same time. Most of these walk-in clinic therapists (since I can't afford the private kind) and job interviewers are usually available Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.

BUT I work Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. That's the problem. Now the job interview thing I might be able to get by here and there but what's really getting me is the therapist part. That might really be a problem, what am I gonna do? Call out sick once a week to see a shrink? Or do you think my employer will understand if I have to leave work 1 hr. early for once a week to see a therapist?

Personally, I would bite the bullet and tell your employer that you have a personal appointment that you must attend once a week. Ask if you can come in early to make up the time/ or late...Make sure your employer knows that you aren't just going out playing cards or something. That this is a serious commitment.
I don't know what kind of help you are looking for but many churches have counselors what will work with you at no charge

If you tell your employer that you have a weekly appointment they should allow you to leave early for that. The question really is whether or not you will get the job when you tell them that you have to leave early one day per week. There are many jobs that have non-conventional hours these days. Perhaps you should look for one. Many offices have 8-4 hours or 7-3:30.

I think the best thing would be to talk to your supervisor if you have a good rapport with him/her and explain that you have a medical issue which will require you to leave an hour early once a week. You don't even have to explain that it is a therapist. Let the supervisor know the time frame for how long this will last and see if they can work with you.

damn man, that's a tough one! I think calling in sick would be even worse than just telling them you have to have one hour a week for therapy. Maybe you could ask up front if you could have one day with flex hours where you could work 10am-6pm and set up your therapy appts for 9am on those days once a week. Or just be there when the doors open on those days if it's walk-in and they don't allow appts.
