I'm about 7 and a half weeks pregnant. I can still fit in my clothes but some of my pants are uncomfortable. They feel really tight around my belly. Is this normal?? And when is it ok to start wearing maternity pants? My husband says that he thinks I'm already starting to show just a bit, (like a little belly). Could this mean it's twins??? Twins run in my family so I'm scared that it is.

well it is OK to use maternity clothes when you fell like, there is no right time for it ,is just a question of comforting, and at your 7 weeks, still to early to show.the size of your belly doesn't mean that it is twins, but if it runs in your side of the family there is a possibility.in my case my belly was enormous, but just after the 3 ultrasound they find out was twins,i was 5 months pregnant.whatever you are having ,congratulation and take care your little ones.

I experienced the same thing at 8 weeks. I am not carrying twins. I bought one pair of maternity pants. A lot of people said 8 weeks is too early but if your pants don't fit then they don't fit and I hate wearing tight pants and they aren't good for the baby. Don't feel embarrassed or silly if some people say it's to early. Early in your pregnancy you are bloated a lot and you already feel icky so what's wrong with buying clothes that fit you...You'll have to wait for the u/s to see about the twins. I am now almost 15 weeks and I am in full blown maternity clothes. I have to work and look professional and waslking around with a really tight shirt and unbuttoned pants is not professional and your boss will probably frown. Anyways, go to a store buy a couple pair of pants, don't go crazy cuz you are still growing. Good luck and congrats!!

Twins run in my family too and I'm a twin and 17 weeks preggie. (No i'm not having twins at the time)
But when I was around 8 weeks I able to fit into my normal clothes but they were a little tight in the pants, mainly due to bloating and not so much of the baby since a baby is so tiny at this point. I don't see a problem with wearing maternity clothes this early or clothes that allw you to be more comfortable. Remember every pregnancy and woman is different.
Also, if you haven't had your 1st dr.'s appointment yet you should be get a vaginal ultrasound, this will let you know if your having a multiple pregnancy and see your growing baby for the 1st time.

Good Luck & Congrats

Don't worry about it. My jeans got tight pretty quickly not because I gained a lot of weight, but that my shape changed and I lost my waist REALLY quick. Whenever you are comfortable wearing maternity pants go ahead and start. Until then you can get a little more time from your pants by using a rubber band or pony tail holder for your hair to slip around the button through the hole and back on the button. This worked for me for a couple of weeks to extend the pre-maternity wardrobe. As far as twins usually if the twins are on your mothers side there is a higher risk for you. Congrats.

When you show really depends on the person. If you are really slender, you start to show earlier. I'm 9 weeks with my second pregnancy and I am starting to show already. I have a pair of jeans that really uncomfortable to wear but they were really fitted before I got pregnant. I am a thin woman and you can see a slight bump when you look at me sideways but only my husband and sisters notice. My neighbor tells me she sees nothing. But its my second so my stomach isn't as tight as it was for my first. I didn't have to start wearing maternity clothes until about 5 months. My sisters were at about 3 months and my one sister couldn't wear any of her pants by 8 weeks. A lot of the extra bump is water retention and bowel retention. Being pregnant makes you constipated. Go buy yourself some comfy maternity pants and congrats!! Oh, and it could be twins, (double the excitment)but only an ultrasound would tell you for sure. Talk to your dr about that.

Each woman is different - I say if your pants are a bit snug, wear maternity pants. However, do not go crazy and buy a lot of smaller maternity pants as you will grow out of them rapidly. There are also those belly bands that you can tuck your regular pants in and wear a band around them. It's quite stylish. I'm the same amount of weeks and I have a little bulge already too! Twins are possible for me too . .

Then twins would be a possibility. However, you didn't say how much you weigh, if you are under weight you will gain alot more weight than the average woman alot quicker. I am also guessing that this is your first, it could also be that you are not sqeezing your stomach muscles together anymore and just have your natural pudge showing. I was very underweight when I got pregnant and noticed that I used to walk around with my muscles tense in my stomach. When I found out I was pregnant I let loose the muscles cause I didn't want to squash the baby! Sounds funny but true..... I'm pregnant with my third and I looked like I waws 3 months pregnant at 6 weeks. My uterus just popped right into place!

If your pants feel tight go out and get some maternity clothes. It's better that you feel comfortable than to feel like you are being squished. Don't forget new maternity underwear.
You should also let your doctor know about twins running in your family.

Everyone is different. You may just be one of those people that carry everything up front and not even look pregnant from the back, but if twins run in your family it is possible it would be a good idea to tell your doctor so they can check to make sure there are no complications. Good luck

If your pants are a bit snug then you need to start wearing maternity pants. It's not good to wear pants that are too tight. You can start wearing maternity clothes whenever you want. I didn't start wearing maternity clothes until I was 5 months.
