PleaseTan very carefully. Redheads are a natural beauty- you want to keep that ! How about trying a good quality lotion tan just to put on a pretty glow ( dont overdo it, everyone knows redheads dont tan THAT well! ) There are some really great tanning lotions nowadays that even the celebrities choose. Then you can see how you like it without the health risks of tanning beds or full sun. ( Lindsay Lohan is a redhead who gets a bottle tan - of course look how beautiful Nicole Kidman is without one!)
If you decide to go in the natural sun, wear a higher SPF sunscreen and only go out in the morning until 10:30 or after 2 pm - not high noon hours. BUILD a slight tan - dark tans just are NOT fashionable since people have become more aware of the risks of melanoma - the fastest growing cancer. Skin cancer is very real - we have a friend whose 22 year old daughter has it - from tanning. It's scary-she might die! Please,ENJOY your natural red head beauty - many people would love to have such a complexion! Take good care of yourself and you will be a fair skinned beauty in your old age when other people are all leathery and wrinkled from too much tanning! Redheads are beautiful!

Wow you sound like you are already very beautiful!!! I wish I was as lucky as you. If you really need a tan though, try a tan booth and get a base tan. If you can achieve a base tan you wont burn as bad in the sun. How ever, tan booths are safer.UV rays are a contributing factor to skin cancer. I strongly urge you not to try sunless tanning creams or miracle pills. Lotions on really fair skin will appear orange- yellow( like jaundice). I'm fair skin too. Even high-end lotions as well. don't swim in chlorinated water or you'll look like a Zebra too- yikes!! i don't know if they still have the tanning pills like they did in the 80's but they make you orange too. ( I heard they can harm you too.) Most of those products don't work well with fair skin. Sunless products are really meant to enhance an already warmer- toned complexions.

I don't tan either. If I sun bathe too long, I get blisters. They peel and the white skin is back. Being outside with shorts on and a tank will prob. give your skin a light tan. I usually use Neutrogena Self tanning cream on my legs for the first few weeks into wearing shorts. It's not obvious to others and makes me feel more comfortable. During the summer I have a nice color. I will never tan dark, it's not my physical makeup and I don't think yours either. You will hurt your skin more by frying it. It will wrinkle sooner and become leathery. I lived in California with a lot of tanned people. But many were as white as myself. Be happy with that.

Natural redhead here ... it's nearly impossible for us to get natural tans. When I'm desparate for a "healthy glow" ... I usually settle for the "spray on" type tans offered at various salons.
If you're set on doing it the old-fashioned way ... start out slowly by going to the tanning salon 15 minutes at a time. Build your way up ... I've only gotten this to work once and it took about a month before I saw any change. Fair skinned people tend to turn pink ... then fade.

Ok, well there is really no solution, sorry to say. To be honest, if you are naturally fair skinned, then you would probably look strange with a tan! i am really pale too, but people think it can be a good thing!
Im afraid you will have to learn to live with it unless you fake tan-but be careful in the sun. just cos you may want a tan, please dont hurt youraelf by not wearing suncream!!!

Well you have no choice but to get a fake one since you have fair skin all you do is burn..
Buy some spray on tan works great and if applyed right looks natural or better yet go to one of those tanning salons and let them spray tan ya or use the tanning bed.

Honey, you sound absolutely beautiful "as is" -
Nicole Kidman has all the money in the world and she's still fair! It's probably impossible to do it naturally. Besides, can you imagine HER with a tan? I think it would look weird. Be happy with whatcha got........and when all those hot tan people get old and wrinkly and have skin cancer you can just kick back and smile.

Your burns will turn to tans over time.... but it is not healthy for your skin at all. I am also a fair skinned red head. Navy stationed me in hawaii for 5 years, by the time I left I had a tan. Now, 10 years later I have skin cancer. So, really you have to ask yourself, how important is that tan to you?

be happy with yourself. why cant you? If you are so sad and frustrated with bieng pale...why dont you even think about the handicapped? Some cant walk and they are perfectly happy and dont complain. I think your features are brilliant!Red hair?? Soo unique! Blue eyes? I'd die for them...aww and freckles are so cute. you sound like a real irish girl^^(I hope you're irisih lol) If you aretn tan and everyone else is, than that sets you aside from bieng ordinary. Besides, people love fair skin. Fair means pretty(mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all? hehe) <
Compare: Lindsay Lohan is naturally extremely pale. She uses spray tan. Look at her. SHe's orange...like an oompa Loompa. ew. Nichole Kidman. Extremely fair. Envied for her beauty, and gracefulness she gives to her figure and clothes.
PLUS fair skinned peoples' skin peel and get more freckly when they lie in the sun too long so DONT TRY IT! (if you do maybe all the freckles will merge into one big giant tan LOL) AND tan people are SO much more prone to skin cancer. Squamous cells. Basilic cells?(forget what they're called lol) Weird welts on their skin that dont go away. I've read that the number of young people getting skin cancer is increasing at an alarming rate. Probably because everyone is trying to get TAN.
I dont know why america emphasizes these usesless things everyone is different!

try jergens moisturizing tanning lotion it works little by little to give you a natural tan and doesn't look orange. since youre so light get the one that 's for fair skin. i live in florida too and my friend is white like you and what she had to do she got a bit of tanning oil and sat outside for 30 min. ONLY 30 min. she almost started peeling though if she would've stayed longer she would've burned pretty bad
