1.How old were you when you started driving?

I am 15 almost 16 and I desperately need to learn how to drive. With all my after school activities my parents can't take me and it is so hard to track down a ride. Do you have any suggestions or advice?

**My parents don't want me to learn right now because of the cost my insurance isn't that cheap afterall.

I live in TX, where I live there are barely and public transportation to where I need to go. I can't walk or bike to these activities because they are like 30 minutes away.

Ask your parents if they would rather you learned to drive on your own after you have moved out of the house or under their roof & supervision?
I think that drivers are better off if they learn under the parents supervisioin.
You may have to give up an activity or 2 to be alble to get to drivers ed, but it is definately worth it.

I started driving at 15 and I drove thru the first winter too -- I thought my dad wouldn't let happen, but he was sitting right next to me.

I was 15 but couldn't drive at night till I was 16. I also did go through a drivers education class that taught just about everything except on the road with snow (since it didn't snow at that time). Most insurance companies have good student discounts and also multi driver or multi car discounts. Check out the different places out there. Progressive is really good.

I waited until I was 21 to learn to drive. Why not walk to get to your after school activites? Or how about biking? Or public transportation?
