The mechanic trade needs more women. All parts of this trade are dominated by men... most women simply do not like to play with grease. I have yet to see a female diesel mechanic, I have seen a few female car mechanics though.
The money is very respectable, more so if you stick to Truck and Trailer or Heavy Equipment. I can also guarantee you will always have a job with this trade.
If you are just getting started, I recommend trying to get in with a dealership. You will get more training with dealers and most would love to have female mechanics apply. I do have to warn you... you might encounter scepticism and some shops might worry their might be a sexual harassment case if they hire you.
Good luck in your future endeavours!

I think it is a great idea. I've been a diesel mechanic for several years and have always thought there should be more females in the industry. There probably will be some issues with some of the older guys not accepting you but just keep at it.

Bubbles, If you love what your doing stay with it. If your were my work partner with the type of schooling your getting I'd be proud of you! Fresh minds are full of worthwhile ideas. You will learn first hand correct mechanical approaches to problems. No shade tree mechanics for you. Miss or Ms. Bubbles.
I have a college degree in Ag. Engineering and I landed my first job at a fortune 500 company as a technician. The only reason I was hired that day, I could read all types and sizes of measuring devices. I retired from the same company 37 yrs. later as a precious metal melting engineer. What a blast that was.

Why should anyone have any thoughts on it?
If you run around going ooh look, i'm a woman and i'm doing the job just as well as any man you'll get the shocked responses and unwanted attention which you seem to be expecting.
Get on with the job, don't play the "i'm a little woman so i can't do that" or "i deserve special treatment because i'm a woman" cards and your gender won't even come into it, just your ability to do the job.

a million. You extra clever be adopting this mutt. 2. A "Gladiator or Daniff" is a stupid call, the incorrect term. call her what she rather is, a mutt or a Bullmastiff/large dane blend, no longer a stupid call. 3. i admire that call for a woman, make certain you get her spayed whilst the right age.
