While I type this on Y!A, I have a PDA in front of me, on which I am doing my homework. I could do my homework on the computer but then that would mean I bought the PDA for nothing.

Doing your homework on a PDA/ computer/ notebook is not a determinant of geekdom. Geeks are generally people who obsess over their work (whether it be electronics, gaming culture, or school work). If all you ever thought and cared about was gadgets, then you'd be a tech geek. Nerds are geeks who obsess over school work. "Film buffs" are geeks who live for film and nothing else. That's why geeks are generally regarded as people who "don't have a life." They tend to be reclusive and like time to themselves. They spend 60% of their time on forums, chat sites, and blogs talking to other people about their favorite gadget, book, or film. So if you do have a life, in the most basic sense, then you're not a geek. And If you are a geek, then chances are you wouldn't have needed to ask anyone to point it out. :)

No, a Geek would see the PDA as a useful tool when the PC is not around. A dork just uses the "toys" devoid of its functionality.
