I have always wanted to pursue voice lessons, but the only thing I think I can't do is harmonize. Is there some way that teachers teach you to do this? Maybe its because I just sing and have yet to take a lesson and learn to warm up my voice and such....

Still if I could get some information on learning to harmonize that would be great. It seems a lot of people say that it's something that you can't "learn or be taught." Thanks.

If you can read music (vocal/choir), then you can harmonize, by singing one of the parts other than 1st soprano (which is usually the melody part).

I can do both: read baritone, up to tenor, parts (harmony), and sing harmony by ear. Both reading and 'by ear', are learned. I learned to sing "high-harmony" by listening to alot of country music albums.

A good voice coach can help you get started.

As long as a person is not tone deaf, they SHOULD be able to learn how to harmonize.
