Has ANYONE ever heard a performer of any kind cite Diana Ross as their inspiration or mentor? I'm at loss for a reason why they would think her worthy of a theme night.

The only ones I can think of are Rupaul who said he/she got make up tips from her & Michael Jackson.

To those who are answering my question....check my profile. I am 44 years old. I grew up listening to Diana Ross and NEVER cared for her music after she left the Supremes.

I agree with you . Given the song writing talent available at Motown- Holland- Dozier - Holland and W. Robinson plus the incredible musicianship of the house band ;aka the Funk Brothers and the leadership and great production sense of Berry Gordy [ Ms Ross's lover and role model ] you could have plugged any chick singer with a decent set of pipes into the mix and gotten the same results.
Make no mistake I like Diana Ross But she is not an inspiration in the way that say Marvin Gaye was.
Hey OG
The week after I turned 16 I spent 4 days in the red mud at Max Yasgurs farm ,does that little experience allow me to be judge Ms Ross accuratley ?
Just curious

Diana Ross is indeed an icon in the music industry, so for that reason I understand.

Having said that, taking into consideration the target audience for the show, I'm not real sure why she was picked. Most of the fans in the target audience, probably don't know who Diana Ross is beyond name. Odd choice of guest for me.

They did announce that I believe Justin Timberlake, Pink, Michael Buble and others will be on an episode in April, I believe.

I totally agree. Also did you notice how many had a bad critique because of the song they sung. The songs were not good to begin with. Well, except for a couple. What were they thinking anyway. Even the better male singers bombed.

Are you crazy? She is an icon. Do you even realize what she brought to the music industry or how many hits she had???

And if you watched American Idol last night you would have heard Stephanie say that she was her idol. You are just too young and musically uneducated to appreciate her.

You are obviously too young to know much about the icons of the 60s and 70s.
