Similar to NCAA. If not... we should somehow put our puck heads together and form one.

my question was mis-interprated.

I meant "bracket" sheets you can bet money with.

It would still work with seeds, right?

Ther were never any brackets in the NHL. Nor will their ever be any. NHL bases their playoffs on a seeding system. 1 plays 8 2 plays 7 3 plays 6 4 plays 5. With the top 4 teams in each division taking home ice advantage. Brackets may work in the NCAA but it will never fly in the NHL. It is already bad enough that NCAA football championships are a laugh.Bottom line is this and I hate to say it But Canadian fans would scream bloody murder if they went to a bracket system.

It's a hard question to answer, mostly because of how the NHL seeds. There are "brackets". They start w/ 8 teams from each conference, 1 plays 8, etc. However, after the first round, it's not just the winner of this game moves on to the winner of the corresponding brackets game (Like in Basketball). For this round, the highest seed plays the lowest seed again.

So, the two teams that would move onto the next round that would seemingly play each other in the bracket, don't necessarily.

That's pretty much the main reason they don't have one.

There was back in the 80'/early 90's when there were 4 divisions, and the top 4 teams from each made the playoffs.
Back then, Brackets were established and never altered.

When they re-alligned into 6 divisions, and 8 seeds, they screwed it all up.

They get seeds but theres no bracket.

1.nashville
2.anaheim
3.vancouver
4.detroit
5.dallas
6.sanjose
7.minnesota
8.calgary

say calgary beats out nashville
say minnesota beats out anaheim
say sanjose beats out vancouver
say dallas beats out detroit

dallas would become 1 seed
san jose would become 2 seed
minnesota would become 3 seed
calgary would become 4 seed

what im tryin to say is that the higher seed always plays the lowest seed
