well..i just had surgery a lil over a month ago..i had to have an ovarian cyst removed,my ovaries and fallopian tube is ok..my doctor said i will still be able to have children. well my question is..is it possible for me to have become pregnant already. i have been sexually active since the surgery. and i havent had my period since the surgery has been done. so do u think my body is still trying to heal..or is it possible for me to be pregnant.

also my period has been odd i havent really had one since june of 2006 and i dont take birth control and before i had the surgery obviously i wasnt pregnant. so what could be sum possiblities.
i am of course going to ask my doctor when i go for my check up on thursday but im just curious as to what sumone in my place would think.....

It is very possible to become pregnant. I had the same type of surgery, and waited for my body to heal as instructed by my doctor... then 3 months after the surgery, on our first "attempt" I got pregnant. I had been trying for 8 years prior.
Definately let your doctor know... since you have an appt. tomorrow.
It is also possible that your hormones are messed up a bit... so don't rule out that possibility.
Good Luck!

An ovarian cyst is caused by an egg that was released, but then attached itself to the outside of the ovary instead of going through to become a period. This would explain your previous missed periods, and may be the case now as well.

The cyst could have thrown off your cycle and your hormone levels. It's possible that the surgery just made it all wacky this month. That can happen with surgery and recovery. It's also possible that you are pregnant. If you are late, get a test and see what it says. If it hasn't been that long since you have had sex (less then 2-3 weeks) a test won't show anything but negative. It's also possible that you are having issues with ovulation. That can cause your periods to be off. The most likely reason is the surgery though. Talk to your doctor, but more then likely, it isn't pregnancy.

I am really not familiar with all of this. I think only a doctor can answer these questions and I am glad to see you are going to ask at your check up.
You could take a test now to see if you are pg, but I am unsure of what the effects and unpredictability of your cycle would have on the test.
Seriously, I would just let your body heal. You have the rest of your life to have sex. I would just hate to see you do any damage to yourself over this.
Take care.

I would do this...(unless you wanna wait)...
Go out and buy a $3 pregnancy test....
If it's positive well duh...
but if not...it will put your mind at rest and it may even help you start...I've done this for myself and a girlfriend a few times! Works like a charm!!
I've also had a colposcopy (cervical biopsy) and it made me skip 2 periods...so you may very well be healing my dear...
Good luck! Feel better!
