My son's pediatrician advised another mum to have her daughter's ears pierced and the baby was just about 6 weeks old. Of course it was professionally done at the hospital. It's really up to you... some people decide to have their baby girls' ears pierced just to let others know that it's a baby girl.

I personally will not pierce my girl's ears until she wants to do it, and is old enough to take care of them herself-(jewelry). My Grandmother actually pierces ears-and has for 20 years. She says it is better to get them done when they are real little or to wait until they are older. The reason is because at 1-6 years old they may refuse to have the second ear pierced after the first one is done. I would just wait until old enough to be responsible. I would worry about them at a young age ripping the earrings out, losing them, swallowing them, and if you can't keep the earrings in their ears the hole will close. So could be a lot of worry for nothing. Pick an age and stick to it.

I think it is totally up to you. I didn't get my girls ears pierced until they were 1. Just because that is when I felt comfortable getting it done. My sisters both got their daughters ears pierced when they were about 3 months old! That was them, I did what I wanted! Do what you feel comfortable with!

I plan on piercing my baby's ears at about 6-8 weeks of age, after she's had first few sets of shots .

I'm having a girl as well and want to get her ears pierced as soon as she gets her first few shots! I think they only cry for a little while and really don't know what happened! Good luck!

If you want to pierce your baby's ears then do it! I'd do it at about 6 weeks old. That way its done, she young won't remember nor will she play with them or try to rip them out! Good Luck

I don't have daughters, but I had my ears pierced about a week after I was born. It worked out great for me. I was too young to mess with them and by the time I was, they were all healed up.

It's a personal choice, really.

i had my daughters at 3 months. the place actually recommended early too because 1. they have short term memory. 2, they dont pick at it, easier to take care of. the older they get the more conscious. i feel if i hadnt done it before 6 months id wait till 3 or so atleast so she was aware not to pick at it.

It is your decision. However.....I don't plan on having my daughter's ears pierced until she is old enough to take care of them herself.

no because as they grow older, the earring hole will be moved higher and higher on the earlobe. My friend got hers done when she was a baby and it's not as attractive because of it's location.
