I've heard that in 2011 the solarmegnatic field from the sun would become stronger and disable communication devices and eletricity that if possible would create widespread chaos and deaths.

Sure, plenty of people suppose that weird stuff will happen in 2012, ranging from Mayan calender buffs to Timewave Zero fans; heck, there are probably some quasi-Christians who suppose that the rapture will occur that year.

Now, will something weird actually happen in 2012? Given the track record of other apocalyptic predictions, I would say the odds aren't particularly good. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

The rising sun will appear to pass through the center of the Milky Way and be reborn on 12-21-2012.
The Mayan Calendar isn't ending; the 13th Baktun is beginning. It's a whole new world (not the destruction of the old world, which has already passed).

The mayan calendar is suppose to wind down in 2012. To my understanding all the planets of the solar system are also supposed to line up perfectly into a straight line, and there is also supposed to be a comet or asteroid that will hit Earth at the time.

Many feel this would be the Tribulation spoken of in the bible. Who knows what kind of mess the gravity of all the planets would make in that straight line? The bible also speaks of a mountain crashing into the sea which it calls "Wormwood," which may refer to a comet or asteroid hitting an ocean.

And its easy enough to see that everything Jesus said would be a sign of the last days of this world system is occurring right now. Wars and Earthquakes, diseases and rampant famine; its all here right now. Global warming is big on everyone's mind; and if you hear the description of the weather that scientists predict (the ones who believe in GW), it is the same as described in the bible of weather during the tribulation. There is strong discontent with nearly every leader of every country in the world; especially with the strong ones like America, Britain,Iran, Russia, and Israel (probably very strong players during the end times). It is conceivable that with 2012 being so close, this is it right now.

Of course, the bible also says no one knows the actual date and no one will until it occurs. Which would suggest that 2012 (being the leading contender for the date of the Tribulation and Armageddon among those trying to predict the date) is actually probably not going to be the time frame. It will come at a time most of us won't expect; and those that do expect it do so only because they never actually stop expecting it.

There's going to be a near-miss from an asteroid, but other than that, not much... the Mayan calendar "ends" there, and a lot of people have put much significance to that, but... the Mayan's really aren't around anymore, so... why should we worry?

The mayan calendar ends in 2012, so people assume that the world will end then. That is like saying that because the calendar in you checkbook only goes for three years you are going to die.

Crud! That's the year I graduate!

Hey, the Mayans died out along long time ago. If they couldn't predict their own death, why should they be able to predict OUR death? So what, the calander ends on 2012. That doesn't really mean bad things are going to happen. Hey, for all we know, monkeys could join forces, build a spaceship, fly into space and repair the ozone form global warming. We just don't know! (Although it would be kinda cool if monkeys ever did that).

The Mayans died out a long time ago. If they couldn't see that coming, what makes you think they had any idea what was going to happen a thousand years later?

In short, no. Nothing is going to happen.

the Mayans say that the world will come to an end in 2012, but no one knows for sure when the world is really gonna end. The only person who knows is God.

Every year or so, we get another one of these pieces of garbage. Their calendar for their old period (the new one comes in 2012) runs out. They were so wise about the future that they didn't even see their own destruction. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I have a calendar I bought at Barnes & Noble and it runs out in January of next year and that doesn't scare me either.

Yea, well weird stuff was supposed to happen in 1000AD, and 2000 AD, and a lot of other dates. Don't hold your breath.
