because people think that if they please someone else they will be more well liked... not the case... yes you should always treat people with respect but dont change who you are to please someone else.

Basic human fear of rejection. I think people just want to please so that they can feel almost like they have...acomplished something. it's almost like "Look, i made someone happy." ( when in reality they woulda been happy without your small favor.) I have an issue with wanting to be liked, so i aim to please no matter what. It is kinda like a bad habit.

I don't know. I work hard to please my boss and get nothing but criticism when I make a mistake. I have always tried to please boyfriends and others only to get nothing in return.

some people are givers & some people are takers. i think a giving person just naturally wants to please others. and a taker is doing it for some selfish reason.
