I lost weight by doing 45 minutes a day on the exercycle.

Biking is aerobically easy on the body. If you do the highest incline possible (if available) Id do about 30-40 mins. If thats not an option, Id suggest doing an hour a day. Its too easy on your body. Id do an eliptical trainer for 20 mins and get more of a work out than biking.

I find that in order to transition from burning glucose stored in my muscles and blood to metabolising body fat, I need to exercise for more than twenty minutes. Less than twenty minutes doesn't seem to do more than make me a bit hungry. Fifty minutes has a definitely noticeable effect on my (now blissfully almost totally gone) body fat.
