well...

sex (sometimes) means gender.
and the prefix 'ist' obviously means against.

so it's sex (gender) ist (against), like racist, or sizeist
sexesist would be against all genders i think.

The original word was 'sex' as in gender (male/female). It is exactly the same derivation as age = ageist, race = racist.
