All the talk on different posts about graphics cards has be confused on what I strongly believe in using AGP's...Some swear up and down about using PCI for games, but yet there is no advanced 3D support in DXDIAG. So what's the deal. AGP had all full support with hardware etc, and plays faster, so why do people like PCI instead, and why are there so many PCI cards put out by ATI instead of AGP's, and so many PCI's selling on ebay instead of AGP's...? Please help me with my confusion as what to buy for an upgrade card.

Ok,

I think you are confusing PCI-e with just plain ol' PCI.

PCI-e or PCI Express is a new version of the old PCI slot.

This new slot has higher data transfer rates than the old PCI bus. The higher data transfer rates allow for better graphics.

PCI-e has data transfer rates of 4.2Gb/s whereas AGP is limited to 2.4Gb/s. Plus PCI-express is able to support something called SLI or Scalable Link Interface which allows you to run two video cards at the same time on the same monitor for increased performance.

The original PCI bus does have some video cards available for it, but those are only for people who do not have AGP or PCI-e.

You are probably reading about PCI Express, not PCI. PCI Express is the newest type of slot on a motherboard. It is much faster than AGP for video cards.

PCIe is the new video card standard... but I think you mentioned what you want to do with the computer your building in another question and an AGP card will serve you just fine.

people like PCI Express, MUCH faster, higher bandwidth, and all around beefier cards.
