Coz I notice that a lot of people who are not really intellectually inclined at school often opt for psychology... That kinda makes me think twice in taking psychology. =/ (I mean, employers and society would think that you're just "average" too!) In your opinion then, do you think that it is a "prestigious" major like law/medicine, or is it just an easy way out?

Well do a lot of people take psychology? And it is a really difficult thing to deal with a lot of people just hearing them rant, or cry, or anything. It gets kind of annoying.

law and medicine aren't majors. You can take psychology and go on to law school or med school.

But to answer your question, yes, psychology is an easy major. I admit to taking a psych class to bump up my GPA. Zoned out the whole class. Never read a thing. An hour or so before the midterm and final, I skimmed the chapter summaries. Got an A. No way I could do that at pretty much all the other classes I took, even the easier ones.

If you want to know what majors are likely easy, find out what classes the bulk of the athletes are in. Particularly the football and basketball teams. If most of them are taking a handful of majors, you know those majors are really easy at your school. There may a few smart athletes who can hang with the smartest kids at your school, but not the great majority at most colleges.

Is psychology easy? Not if you do it right.

I found that that those not inclined towards academia were much more inclined to go into sociology than psychology.

In my opinion, Psychology would be a good major for those who want to go to law school or medical school (as long as other required courses were taken).

Someone here said that law and medicine are not undergraduate majors. That is true in the US -- but not in many other countries. I know someone who studied medicine as an undergraduate in Spain. Law is an undergraduate major in most countries -- including the UK.

Psychology is -not- an easy major.

Many people sign up for it thinking that it's an easy degree only to run into a wall later. The group that you are talking about typically switch majors later on or find that they can't cut it. In order to get a decent job in psychology, you have to have at least a bachelor's degree and be on your way to a masters and from then on many go onto their doctorate.

In the meantime, from bachelors to masters and so on, many intern in hospitals as mht's (mental health technicians) or work in the legal system as counselors for long hours.

I myself am a prospective law student, so I'm not 100 percent sure about what all the experiences are but if you are interested I suggest that you look up some universities and email some of the professors teaching it to get their opinion.

Good luck.

The early classes are usually very easy... but... for most psycyhology majors you need to eventually take a research design and statistics set of classes, and those usually are the classes that weed out most people. Designing experiments and running an analysis of variance test on data usually scares the less serious people away. Psychology isn't just about working with people and listening to them, part of it involves science.

I think it depends on what you're majoring in it for. For instance, my daughter has chosen to be a psychology major as a part of her total education plan to be a forensic psychologist. She'll need to minor in either law or criminology--criminology is the second choice. I think that is prestigious (as you say) as opposed to a case worker or middle school guidance counselor.

each answer i've got viewed so a procedures has had some advantage. you may considerable in economics in BBA, Arts and BSc courses at college. that's a large container. I take some exception to the maths/technology people who view it in basic terms as a mathematical-form social technology. if fact learn, microeconomics is amazingly plenty a Social technology with guy or woman behaviour (psychology, etc) writ large on its time table. Very difficult to ever get micro 'perfect' as a technology. it rather is the comparable for public coverage... commonly the greatest concepts are no longer the main efficacious (fairest or politically expedient) ingredient to do. working example, slavery may well be an economically effective ingredient to permit, yet no longer an extremely ethical or merely ingredient to ensue. actuality is, like maximum academic pastimes, that's as difficult or as hassle-free as you opt for it to be. yet one word of warning. If somebody ought to be an economist of any form, you would be able to desire to have some math skills. An honours undergrad or a grasp's degree is going to require calculus and stats, linear and matrix algebra, etc. yet then, i think of that a properly-rounded economist could desire to hassle with regard to the philosophy of economics besides. Adam Smith replaced into as plenty a fact seeker as the rest, and the profession loses plenty while it loses sight of that. One very final notice... look into Forbes... the utmost paid college grad types are engineers observed by way of economists interior the extensive form 2 slot... in the event that they do no longer think of they are clever, they could desire to think of they are sensible for some thing. Peace

Psychology over time will mess up your mind.....

I wouldn't say it would be the easiest, because the human mind and condition are waaaay too complex to fully understand. Besides psycholgists prescribe drugs and they have to know what does what.
