Alabama is probably the most racist state in America running a close second would be S. Carolina and Arkansas. Mississippi used to be in the top three but Katrina showed them that they are all equally worthless illiterates...so now they're humbled.

Paperback, just because Alabama has wealthy and established blacks does not mean it is not a racist place. The blacks there are old southern blacks, from what I have seen they are as ignorant and down home southern than the racist whites there...it's the culture & history that makes the place so racist, not necessarily the color of the people.

It was based on old laws that didn't have any meaning- plenty of black and whites married there between 1960 and 2000, man, get a grip. I heard they did it mostly to get older African Americans to the polls or just to have a clean slate but I really can't say as that's here-say. It had no meaning though so I wonder why you brought it up.

Please don't get me started on some of the ignorant statements here but I think it's interesting that people are so biased against Southerners that even stereotyping about African Americans is okay so long as they are Southern too as indicated with "the blacks there are old southern blacks" and "as ignorant and down home southern than the racist whites"... Wow, I suddenly have an appreciation for irony the British are always going on about here.

Maybe not the most racist, but just a little behind. The only way you can get rid of racism is through education. Things were so much different 'back then'. I have always taught my kids that everyone is the same, no matter what color they are. Kids are taught their beliefs by their parents, so if a parent has a positive attitude, then most likely their child will have the same views. The same goes with negative attitudes.

Yet Alabama, compared to the rest of the US, has the closest comparative income of black households to white households. Oh, and in black elected officials. Oh, and the migration of blacks TO Alabama is three times the migration of blacks OUT of Alabama. And the list goes on and on and on. If we were that racist, would any of these facts be true?

Maybe you should bother learning about a place before you make blanket statements, obviously formed by watching old episodes of In The Heat Of The Night. And, for the record, I heard the N word more times in one afternoon in Bensonhurst than I have in 44 years in the South.

Yes, most of the south is.
Very unfriendly and unapproachable people too, if you're dark and/or exotic-looking. It's one of the places I would least want to live in.

Whatever state has the highest population of blacks... that will be the most racist state. Blacks love to play the race card whenever they can but when the truth comes out, blacks are far more racist than any other race.

I did not know that fact. Maybe they are in some ways due to that southern mentality.
