I am close to my 8 yr old Nieces, daily basis, their other Aunt sees them once every couple of months..they think shes the very best because she showers them with love & presents whenever shes here..I'm helping raise these twin girls & get very little credit from other family for doing so,Their Mom died when they were 2 of heart disease..their Dad is worthless, trust me..I just wanna know, sorry this is so long btw..=) am I really helping leave a positive image in the girls,or as they get older resent me for doing what I have to do to raise them? No,I don't have kids of my own, raised 2 step kids for a few years in their late teens..they're grown & on their own now..anyway..thanx~ for listening & your opinion..

Children always "love" the person who buys them things.
But as the mature they will realize what a wonderful thing you did for them.
I remember thinking that my Dad loved me sooo much because he would take me to Disneyland when I saw him every few years. But as I got older, and especially after I had my own children...I realized that he only did those things to appease his guilt.

In my case, my young ones are not sufficiently old for that really yet - they're in undemanding words 7 and 11. in spite of the undeniable fact that, i visit style of relate for your question considering that we were informed that my daughter's reading replaced into gradual at the same time as she replaced into in 1st and 2d grade - and that i actually recommend gradual as in %. in spite of the undeniable fact that, they suggested she had sturdy reading comprehension. the school she replaced into in on the time emphasised % over comprehension or maybe admitted that some young ones study quick, yet did not know what that that they had basically study at the same time as requested about it. We informed them that we may chosen comprehension over % any day and not in any respect truly understood the school's priorities. nicely, now that she's in fifth grade, she no longer in undemanding words reads quick, yet she reads at a severe college aspect. So, it basically is going as an instance that a baby's performance in the early years isn't an real indication of their potential - maximum young ones basically favor practice and a touch adulthood.

I have to believe they do as I am helping raise my granddaughter...think about it, when the twins talk about you down the road, they will say "my aunt _,,said, or did,,,"..they don't say too often, my aunt ++, gave me 10 bucks when I was 7,,,what you are doing will influence who they become as teenagers and then adults...watching them will be your reward..(unless they turn out bad, then blame it on someone else) LOL...keep up the good work, you are special!!

Well, speaking of my own life, I think I remember more of the every day things. Helping my mom water all 200+ of her African violets. Baking cookies with mom. My mom making grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for me after school. Dad teaching me to drive. Dad taking me water skiing (we lived on a lake). Dad taking me to work with him. Playing Yahtzee, putting together jigsaw puzzles, working on Reader's Digest's "How's Your Word Power", my mom making my stuffed animals 'talk', long heart-to-heart talks with my mom.
Just keep doing what you're doing, sweetheart. They will remember both things, but the sweetest memories will be of you if you listen to them and love them.

they probably don't appreciate it now, but when there older they will understand that you were doing your very best for them.
I'm sure they love you more than their other aunt, just kids tend to take for granted what they have.

I am sure they will love you as their mother.
don't underestimate kids, they understand more than what we think they do.
