light reflection on buses..some railroad locomotives are painted white for the same reason. UPS roofs are usually opaque allowing light into the truck for better visibilty inside

From up above their is also a number on the roof tops so that the route, driver and area can be determined as needed by law enforcement, for which ever purpose, from a helicopter or air craft.

It lowers the heat of the vehicle almost 100%
In the middle of August go to a dealership and touch a white vehicle then touch a black one. You can hold you hand on a white one but not on a black one...
It keeps the vehicle cooler which lowers the amount of a/c you need which saves on gas used to run the a/c to cool the car.

right here in Florida very just about all of us has a white roof. different than of direction the poeple who've roofs made up of blue plastic tarps after a hurricane. It makes a real distinction on your electric powered invoice all summer time, this is approximately 9 months right here so all of us be responsive to our white roofs. learn from people who be responsive to.

not sure about buses, but UPS truck roofs are plastic, not painted white. they are translucent so light can come into the truck so the driver can see the packages

Probably other reasons also, but it signifigantly cuts A/C usage by lowering car temp. That will save gas.
