It happens (I am looking at it realisticly, not your story). We were doing outside camping (no tent) on tarps. A fox kept coming by my friend and pouncing on the corner of the tarp, going away, and then coming back and pouncing again. S/he thought it was a lot of fun, but scared the crap out of my friend.

Depends on the animal. Being foxy, she was an uppity animal by nature, and obviously took offense at your expression of gas in a most verbal way. A pig, for instance, is much more tolerant. An ostrich would have ignored you, while any bovine would have joined you.

on occasion they may act up. you offended the fox in his/her natural environment, so it's natural reaction would be a slap. next time you should probably duck in a bush or cover your mouth
