If putting in a salad bar do we need a permit as long as it has a snizz guard and drain in it.

I am a manager for a chain restaraunt and as far as I know there is no special permit for a salad bar. There are however, many health rules that go with having a salad bar. Yes you do have to have a sneeze guard and a drain. You also have to have proper temp control, and depending on the health requlations in your are you have to have anything that is not wrapped, under the sneeze guards. You have to temp all items every 4 hours to be sure that all food items are holding proper temp. I would call your local health department to find out what the health speculations are in your area. Oh and dont forget to wear your gloves when handling food on the salad bar!!!!! hope that helped. good luck!

You would want to talk to the city hall where you are getting your permit to serve food. I am sure you need one, you need one for everything these days, they just want more of your money!
