Yeah, there is one more baby in there after all. A friend of mine had twins and she carried them very close to term and she was pretty big. I also tried borrowing some of the maternity clothes she wore with the twins and they were more stretched than the clothes she wore with her other kids. Its normal, but I am sure you could somehow look small too. No two women or pregnancies are alike.

Jessica H., I'm glad that having your best friend have twins makes you an expert on the subject.
Ok, I had a set of twins with the last pregnancy. I gained only 20lbs (until PIH set in then I gained 10lbs of water weight overnight). Trust me, it wasn't for lack of trying to gain more. But actually, a woman pregnant for twins needs only 600 more calories per day then a singleton pregnancy. If you were to look at me, you certainly couldn't tell I was having twins. Its just how I carry. I had a very healthy pregnancy up until the end.
The uterus will be bigger than a singleton. Think about it, even if both babies only equal 8-9 lbs, there is still extra space and extra fluid, thus taking up more room. However, every woman is different. How they carry is different. My babies seemingly tucked themselves into me very nicely and my belly didn't stick out much. Best of luck

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Some women don't even know they are having twins. If they have two babies each weighing 4 pounds or less it would be just about the same as having an 8 or 10 pound baby. It would also depend on the mother's system and how she carries. I was big and had a 10 pound baby but not as big as a co-worker whose baby only weighed 6 pounds.

I had twins and I looked slightly bigger. It all depends on how much they both weigh. For example, my twins each weighed 6 pounds. So I had 12 pounds of baby in me, obviously I looked bigger than a woman who was having one 8 pounds baby. But the average weight for twins is 4 pounds each, so some mothers with twins will look exactly the same as the mother with the 8 pounds baby.

I have seen women with way way way bigger bellys then i had when I had my twins! I didnt even know I was having twins till 20 weeks. My belly was big, dont get me wrong, but it was just as big as when I carried my next son. I know a women who had twins who was HUGE, biggest alien belly ever. But mine wasnt. It all depends, belly size isnt an indicator of how many babies are in there!

A women who is carrying twins will be bigger than a woman carrying only 1 baby. But some people are different, one women carrying twins can be smaller compared to someone else who is pregnant with twins.

If it's a healthy pregnancy, then her belly should definitely be bigger. She will be needing more nutrients and more room for each extra baby she is carrying. I was watching a special on TV about a woman who had sextuplets (6 kids total) and she was HUGE. Her stomach had stretched so badly that she needed plastic surgery in order to look normal again. So yeah, you should definitely be bigger with multiples.

It depends on how you carry them I didnt really show with my twins until 5 months and then by 8 months I measured way beyond normal for that time at 34 weeks i measured 52 weeks. I was starting to lose weight and was all belly. But I am short waisted and had no where for it to go But out. I lookliked a mini beached whale when I laid flat on my back.

No, the babies will be really small... like each one will weigh half or so of what one baby would have weighed. So they should be around 3 pounds each for twins. Except, I once read a birth announcement in my paper that some lady's twins were 6 pounds each...so that would have been a 12 pound baby. So the belly will be the same.

I looked like I was having one baby up until about 5 months and then I looked like I was 9 months pregnant. I gained 50 pounds. People used to stop me when I was about 8 months and says oh my god you're huge! My stomach stuck way out in front my husband used to laugh at me because I am not a very big person I looked ridiculous. My babies were big almost 7 lbs each!
