I should also say that I've had this cramping in the past few days but not regularly. They are coming on about every 5 minutes. Once again though, not very painful just uncomfortable. This is our first child so I only know what I have read and been told by others. Everyone is different but advice would be appreciated. I hate to bother the doctor when it could just be false alarm.

Please go to the hospital and get checked! DO NOT WORRY ABOUT BOTHERING THE DR! That is what they are there for and they expect it. The hospital will monitor your contractions---it does sound like you are in labor to me. Even if you are not, you can go and get checked just to be on the safe side. I have had false alarms and have been sent home---sometimes I was so glad that I did go in because I was in labor. Since this is your first baby and you are unsure, it would not hurt to go in and see if you have dialated at all. Best of luck to you!

It's more than likely a false alarm. You'll want to call the doctor when your contractions are coming every 2-3mins for atleast an hour and they are painful enough that you can't walk or talk through them. You know when it's time to go to the hospital. Try drinking some water or fluids and change positions. If they go away you know it was just practice contractions. Just relax, get some rest, you'll need it for labor, delivery, and when you bring hte baby home!! Good lUck

I think this may be the real deal. If your stomach is tightening up and its like every five minutes it probably is. Mine started out just mildly uncomfortable then went further. Also if you have went to the bathroom and have some kind of discharge - I'd call the Dr. especially if you live far away from the Dr.
