It depends on whether you're looking at pitchers or position players.
The best pitcher is Roy Oswalt. He's been a Cy Young candidate for the past three years. He won 20 games in 2004 and 2005, and won 15 games in 2006, but was plagued by low run support and the bullpen letting him down a few times.
The best position player is Lance Berkman. He hits for average and power, and he's a good defensive player. Lance gets overlooked a bit because he's a National League first baseman, and most people don't look past Albert Pujols when looking at NL first basemen.
The best defensive player is shortstop Adam Everett. His glove is phenominal and he had better fielding stats than last year's NL Gold Glove shortstop, but he's not much of a hitter.

It is tough to argue against Berkman being the best player on the Astros, so I'll suggest three other worthy players that at least deserve to be part of the conversation.
Carlos Lee probably deserves a share of the best player title with his offensive numbers. Lee puts up similar power numbers and steals a few bases. However, Lee has never played a regular season game for the Astros, so it's not fair to compare what they've done under different managers, playing in different lineups in different ballparks. I envision them having very similar offensive production this season with the slight edge going to whomever bats third in the order. Berkman is probably better defensively than Lee, but neither of their positions demand superb defense.
Oswalt also deserves consideration as their best player, but I think it's dangerous to forecast Oswalt as their best player for the upcoming season. He has pitched 700 innings over the last three seasons and you have to think that his arm is going to wear down eventually at that pace.
The other player that I think deserves some consideration might be surprising, but to others, it might be obvious - Craig Biggio. He doesn't put up Berkman's numbers, but he puts up very good numbers for a 2nd baseman and he's been the heart and soul of the team for almost 20 years.

Lance Berkman. The guy is an absolute monster. There is a reason he is low first round or high 2nd round. No other Astro is as good as him at the moment. Oswalt is close second

I would say Lance Berkman, lok athe facility he has to do his swing, it's almost natural, like a Ken Griffey or Tony Gwinn one. He's awesome, and his carrer is growing, so better keep an eye on this player so Houston won't deal him in the future...

carlos lee. he is right handed hitter who pulls the ball and he will maybe hit between 45-50 homeruns this season because of those crawford boxes in left field.
