Ok i live close to the ocean in san diego???????
Is this possible for a venus fly trap to survive?
I hear they need humid climate and much care?
Do they really need to consume flies?
I nee step by step care for this plant any help???

I live in NYC and had a Venus Fly Trap for some time. If you have a window that gets light in the bathroom or kitchen, that would be the ideal spot for it.

Yes, they really do consume flies. It takes several days for them to digest. At that point, the trap opens up, and you will discard the fly skeleton. You can suppliment the plant with a little piece of ground beef as flies are not readily available inside the home.

Dude, I've lived in San Diego my whole life...all 48 years of it. Yes, you can. Heck, go to the zoo....they have a whole section by the new monkey trails area with carniverous plants in it, including venus fly traps.

You got the care instructions, now where to get one. I happen to be in the market for one cause I'm in Diego where we had a hard freeze and mine croaked. You can get them at Quail Botanical Gardens plant sale and Armstrong or Green Thumb nurseries (they can order if they don't have them in stock cause of the freeze). They grow here, just don't leave them out on the RARE occasion that we get a freeze.
