When I went back to work my son was 6 weeks old. I called tons of places. The range was from 120 to 240 per week. But most places charged about 170 a week.

Since more than 10 hours a week of separation from mommy causes emotional, social, intellectual, and even physical harm to an infant - lifelong harm to the ability to trust, for example - the cost of 150 - 200/wk that the day care charges is only the beginning of the very high price paid by every member of a family (but especially the infant) that uses substitute mothers for the care of their infants and toddlers.
