I am going to be brutally honest with you. Please understand my sincerity in this difficult situation.

There is no need to write. All applicants are eager to be accepted. That is why they applied.

You will be accepted if a sufficient number of applicants decline admission, and choose to enroll in other programs. There is absolutely nothing you can do but hope those accepted applicants choose other programs. A letter to the Director of Graduate Studies will have no effect whatsoever.

i don't know if this helps, but I'm applying to medical schools, and for schools that one is waitlisted/waiting to hear back from, people usually write a letter of interest/intent. In my letters, I spend a paragraph updating my application, and another stating my continued interest in the school/program. If you want to be really bold, you can give them a letter of intent stating that you WILL attend that school if they accept you. This is best done if you already are accepted elsewhere so that you can say you will withdraw from those accepted schools. Without another acceptance it will look needy to say you WILL go to the school without having another choice.

Question 1: What school did you apply to?
Question 2: What is your subject area?
Question 3: What did you get on your TOEFL?
Question 4: Why aren't you corresponding with the "institute" themselves?
