Delroy Wilson's "Any Heart Can Be Broken" will do the trick. Listen as he sings how his heart was torn assunder to see his supposed faithful honest lady love parks along dark streets doing the wild thing with a soul train line of strange men to ward off boredom and gain some fleeting attention to bolster her fragile self - esteem.
Ambelique's "It Sometimes Rains In Paradise" is another goodie but it is not quite as powerful and moving as Delroy's tune.

Any thing by Joy Division. Atmosphere is a good song. Both studio albums; unknown pleasures, and Closer, and the singles album Substance. Its so depressing infact, their lead singer commited suicide!
