You just have it set to preview songs , look for the menu options for playback , I'm half deaf and have never owned one but am otherwise a gadget hound and have seen this before.

Yup, it's on Preview Mode. Mine was set up like that out of the box, madness.

you have it on intro's you'll need to turn this option off.
