Oooohhh... good question!! I'm a true Calgarian, born and raised, so my answer is perhaps biased, but Calgary is by far the best city!! Thanks to Chinooks, we get some really nice weather during the winter. We have one of the most extensive walking/biking pathway systems in North America. Our city is constantly humming with cultural and sporting activities. The views of the mountains are outstanding from most quadrants of the city. Our public transportation system is top notch. But the best part of all... our people are warm, friendly, intelligent and kind - we're always eager to show the world a great time when the focus is placed on us!! Yaaaaahoooooo!!!!

I've not been to Edmonton, however, I have spent a good deal of time in Calgary. I can't compare the two obviously, except for weather. It gets colder in Edmonton, and is cold all winter, as opposed to Calgary that most winters has what are called "Chinook Winds" that come over the mountains and melts the snow in the winter.
Calgary is a rather sprawled out city, and it's a nice place to live. I liked being so close to Banff, Lake Louise, etc. I hear housing costs are high right now. Calgary is also very clean. It has it's own ambiance. I prefer Vancouver, but that's because I am a coastal girl not a prairie girl, lol!

I have relatives in both cities. Both are great cities and are economically booming.
I would pick Calgary to live in because the weather will be better (the chinooks mentioned by others and it is quite a bit south of Edmonton). I understand that Calgary is more expensive though.
However, for a visit I prefer Edmonton because of the nice parkland, zoo, and West Edmonton Mall.

Calgary. And don't listen to biffnasty or w/e, he's...disturbed. Anyways, every time I drive through Edmonton, I get the feeling a zombie's gonna pop out and start gnawing on my leg. It seems like there's never anyone out on the streets there...
Either city would be fine, though.

I always preferred Edmonton to Calgary, since I think Edmonton is prettier.
But most people prefer Calgary, because it's bigger with more stuff goin on.

I wouldn't live in either; both are ugly sprawly and both are too much like America. If I absolutely had to choose it would be Calgary because the mountains are closer.

Edmonton, cost of living is cheaper, and people are less full of themselves.
